A social system is a collection of entities which interact with each other, usually according to a set of rules, or shared "values" or "norms". Although any given entity may pursue its own objectives, there tends to be at least some amount of coordination or collaboration between entities so that a typical entity can achieve more objectives in a better way than if it had acted solely on its own.
Singular of social systems.
