A disembodied AI robot is a software system that approximates the functions that would be found in an intelligent physical robot. Rather then responding to physical input and acting on physical objects, a disembodied AI robot responds to software events and resources and utilizes software resources and initiates software events, typically on a network.
Some people use this term as a synonym for a large agent.
Contrasts with a small agent, also referred to as an active object.
