A closed multi-agent system is a multi-agent system for which the set of agent types is predefined by the entity that sets up and controls the system, as contrasted to an open multi-agent system which allows arbitrary external software agents to join the system.
Alternative definition: A closed multi-agent system is a collection of well-behaved agents developed under centralized control and running on a reliable infrastructure.
